Niagara Falls to Lake Placid Niagara Falls to Lake Placid

We stayed over night at Hampton Inn on Mirror Lake in the Lake Placid areas. It took about 6 hours to drive to Lake Placid.  Very cool largish town.  Lots of character and evidence of the two Winter Olympics which have been held here. We wandered around the streets looking for nick nacks and enjoyed the coolness of the mountain air.  We had been quite hot at times at Niagara, but we have travelled north and the air is cooler. Nice though.

The Adirondak Mountains incorporate 46 mountains and lakes and trees and farms and beautiful landscapes generally.Beautiful part of the world.

Lake Placid to Burlington, New York Day 16 of 43

image

The drive today was long but a very pretty drive.  It was about 5 hours in all, but Burlington turned out to be worth it.  We spent time in the lovely and creative Castle Street Mall.  Photos are of restaurants and shops of great variety and interest.  There is a mural of 400 years of history on a wall in a laneway. We caught a ferry across from Essex to Charlotte.  It was a lovely warm gentle journey of about 30 mins.  Had time for a few pics and read my book in the warm sun.  Just lovely.  We are doing a lot and so half an hour of down time was very happily enjoyed.

So a really lovely spot – now! But winter I hear is another matter and not much fun for businesses or people. But a very creative and interesting city.  Very cool place. Loved it a lot.
